Council on Aging · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Reading's Council on Aging voted to nominate Jean Prato and Kathleen Harrington as a two-member team to represent seniors on the town's new furniture-selection working group for the RECAL building project. The council also approved Elder Human Services Administrator Kerry Valle's nomination to a three-year term on the Mystic Valley Aging Services board, through October 2029. Members approved up to $430 from the Burbank Fund to send two representatives to the Massachusetts Councils on Aging conference, and up to $1,000 to launch a winter and spring lunch-and-learn lecture series with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Tufts University.
After extended debate, the council decided against commissioning a new resident survey, with Valle telling members, "I don't find it to be useful, if I'm being honest," arguing staff already hear directly from residents daily.
