Reading's Killam School Building Committee unanimously approved two off-site road improvement bid alternates and an early electrical switchgear bid package at its December 15 meeting. Chair Carla Nazzaro led the committee through a series of unanimous votes that also included a $400,000 facilities clerk position at $75 per hour, $56,382 in Collier's project leader invoices, an $8,273.74 commitment to GovConnection Inc. for modular relocation, and a $7,650 not-to-exceed agreement for Bid Docs Online bid hosting, bringing total project expenditures to $6,135,183. The two off-site alternates, Charles Street improvements as alternate one and Haverhill Street improvements as alternate two, are estimated at under $3 million combined and will be accepted or rejected depending on final bid results.

OPM representative Mike Carroll told the committee that without the school project, "the work wouldn't be happening," and warrant article language authorizing "all other costs incidental and related" to the project was read into the record to establish scope authority. The switchgear package goes to bid immediately, with the 90 percent construction documents submission targeted for February.
