Reading Square Faces Planned Power Outage Next Week

READING — The Town of Reading is warning residents of a planned two-day power outage in Reading Square this coming week, while a separate road resurfacing project set to begin Thursday will bring delays and detours to town streets.

TOWN HALL

Reading's town website has posted an alert for a planned power outage in Reading Square scheduled for July 27-28. Details on affected addresses and outage times were not yet specified in the town's posting, but residents and businesses in the square should plan for possible disruption during that window.

Five town boards and committees are scheduled to meet Tuesday, July 28, including the Recreation Committee, Select Board, Finance Committee and School Committee, with the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Committee meeting Wednesday, July 29.

The town's ongoing work on the Reading Center for Active Living (ReCAL) site continues to progress, according to a News Flash update, though no new details beyond continued construction activity were provided this week.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Reading is marking Disability Pride Month throughout July, with the town noting July 26 as the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. The town's community calendar also flags July 28 as National Buffalo Soldiers Day, part of a series of monthly observances the town promotes online.
