Other Committee · Meeting of August 5, 2026

Reading's Building Committee and RecAL Building Committee approved a $164,000 contractor change order and a $1,292,150.79 payment to general contractor J&J Contractors. Project manager Peter told the committee the building's substantial completion date remains August 11, 2027, with a possible September 2027 opening for the new senior and community center. The committee also approved a $14,030 design amendment with architect BH+A covering flex-room and makerspace upgrades, and approved invoices to BH+A ($40,702.50), Turner & Townsend Heery ($31,780) and two smaller vendors.

Treasurer Sharon said the town plans a second, smaller borrowing tranche timed to avoid a fiscal 2028 principal payment, saying officials want "as little left as possible" once construction wraps. BH+A's Colin reported nearly 200 submittals processed and said a disputed $37,000 footing change order was negotiated down to $16,000.
