Other Committee · Meeting of July 28, 2026

READING — The Reading Recreation Committee elected Rich Hand as chair and Bob Wyden as vice chair at its July 28 reorganization meeting. Members voted 7-0, with Wyden recused as a Little League board member, to approve an amplified-sound permit for the 11-year-old All-Star team's July 30 finale at Hunt Field, which will include walk-up songs chosen by players and was presented by Pat Silva. The committee also approved a sound permit for Reading Community Television's Aug. 13 outdoor movie night on the Town Common and signed off 6-0, with one abstention, on six temporary light stands for Reading United Soccer's fall season after storm damage knocked out permanent field lighting.

Staff member Jim presented a draft pickleball fee policy proposing a $50 annual resident membership and a $100 cap for non-residents, which Wyden said may exceed a 50 percent cap tied to the project's state park grant.
