The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Reading Police Department's official public log for the period May 25–31, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).
Monday, May 25, 7:11 a.m. — Residential Alarm: A panic alarm was triggered at a residence on the 300 block of South Street; no contact was made.
Monday, May 25, 20:25 — Suspicious Person: A man was reported walking in and out of traffic at the Salem Street rotary.
Monday, May 25, 11:00 p.m. — ATM Incident: A person reported their bank card was retained by the ATM machine at a bank on the 200 block of Main Street.
Tuesday, May 26, 6:14 a.m. — Suspicious Motor Vehicle: A woman reported a car possibly following her during her run near the 10 block of California Road.
Tuesday, May 26, 7:31 a.m. — Road Closure: Winthrop Avenue was closed from Lowell Street to Weston Road.
Tuesday, May 26, 8:53 a.m. — Larceny: A delivered package was stolen from a building on the 30 block of Haven Street.
Tuesday, May 26, 9:15 a.m. — Road Closure: Knollwood Road at Summer/Main Avenue was closed with a crane on site; no emergency access.
Tuesday, May 26, 11:56 a.m. — Traffic Control: A utility pole was reported struck by a tractor-trailer unit near Main and Salem Streets.
Tuesday, May 26, 3:11 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash (not investigated): A passerby reported a single-car crash near the Main Street ramp to I-95 North; no injuries.
Tuesday, May 26, 3:17 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash (not investigated): A witness reported a two-car crash at Main and Charles Streets; both vehicles left the scene.
Tuesday, May 26, 4:09 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A minor two-car crash was investigated at the 200 block of Salem Street; no injuries.
Tuesday, May 26, 5:40 p.m. — Neighbor Disturbance: A resident at the 20 block of Woburn Street complained of a neighbor playing loud music.
Tuesday, May 26, 7:57 p.m. — By-Law Violation: An unpermitted ice cream truck was reported near Reading Memorial High School on Oakland Road.
Tuesday, May 26, 8:20 p.m. — Traffic Signal: Traffic lights at Main and Salem Streets were found facing the wrong direction.
Wednesday, May 27, 1:06 a.m. — Suspicious Persons: Three men were reported looking into vehicles in a parking lot on the 1 block of Archstone Circle.
Wednesday, May 27, 8:30 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A minor crash in the YMCA parking lot on Arthur B. Lord Drive resulted in no injuries.
Wednesday, May 27, 11:51 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A minor crash in the parking lot at Reading Memorial High School on Oakland Road resulted in no injuries.
Wednesday, May 27, 1:24 p.m. — Credit Card Fraud: A couple reported credit card fraud conducted via computer; incident filed at the 40 block of Benton Circle.
Wednesday, May 27, 2:30 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash at Bay State Road and Haverhill Street was investigated; no injuries reported.
Wednesday, May 27, 4:23 p.m. — Harassing Communications: A man reported receiving threatening text messages at a residence on the 90 block of Avalon Road.
Wednesday, May 27, 6:07 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint: Erratic vehicle operation was reported at Main and Mill Streets.
Wednesday, May 27, 6:42 p.m. — Hazard: A possible sinkhole forming in the road was reported near the 15 block of Evergreen Road.
Wednesday, May 27, 9:32 p.m. — Parking Complaint: A motor vehicle was reported blocking a driveway on the 19 block of Sandra Lane.
Thursday, May 28, 12:35 a.m. — Transformer Fire: A transformer was reported on fire following a small explosion at a residence on the 50 block of Colburn Road.
Thursday, May 28, 8:34 a.m. — Animal: A black-and-white cat was struck by a motor vehicle on the 200 block of Washington Street.
Thursday, May 28, 9:46 a.m. — Illegal Parking: Multiple vehicles were reported parked in a no-parking area at the 15 block of Lakeview Avenue.
Thursday, May 28, 11:47 a.m. — Neighbor Disturbance: A neighbor was reported dumping debris on a resident's property on the 200 block of Haven Street; officers followed up.
Thursday, May 28, 12:03 p.m. — Traffic Complaint: Large dump trucks were reported traveling over the Mill Street bridge near the 37 block of Sanborn Lane.
Thursday, May 28, 5:27 p.m. — Dirt Bikes: Three dirt bikes were reported riding on the road near Camp Curtis Guild on Haverhill Street.
Friday, May 29, 7:22 a.m. — Road Closures: Woburn Street at Chute Street and High Street at Chute Street were closed; Bancroft Avenue at Woburn Street and Bancroft Avenue at Lowell Street were also closed.
Friday, May 29, 8:58 a.m. — Gas Odor: A fire box was struck for an indoor gas odor at a residence on the 2 block of Archstone Circle.
Friday, May 29, 10:11 a.m. — Wires Sparking: Sparking wires were reported at the 200 block of Woburn Street; fire department responded.
Friday, May 29, 1:12 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint: A road rage incident was reported at Green and Main Streets.
Friday, May 29, 2:59 p.m. — Disturbance / Possible Larceny: A person reported items were taken from his vehicle at a car wash on the 300 block of Main Street.
Friday, May 29, 4:18 p.m. — Disturbance: A group of teenagers was reported yelling and swearing inside a business on the 24 block of Walkers Brook Drive.
Friday, May 29, 5:47 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A crash at Lowell Street and Intervale Terrace was investigated; no injuries reported.
Friday, May 29, 6:47 p.m. — Complaint Application Filed: Following a motor vehicle stop at Middlesex Avenue and Lowell Street, a complaint application was filed.
Saturday, May 30, 7:46–10:21 a.m. — Storm-Related Hazards (multiple): Tree branches and limbs down in the road or on power lines were reported across Lewis Street at Wentworth Road, Hartshorn Street, Margaret Road, West Street at West Hill Circle, Virginia Road at Indiana Avenue, Washington Street, Putnam Road, Linnea Lane, and Main Street at Short Street; a fallen stop sign was reported at Summer Avenue near Joshua Eaton Elementary School; utilities and public works were notified.
Saturday, May 30, 8:11 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Disabled: A caller reported a truck lost its trailer on the road at Haverhill Street and the rotary.
Saturday, May 30, 9:34 a.m. — Storm Damage: A portion of a tree fell on a home on the 70 block of Beaver Road; fire department responded.
Saturday, May 30, 10:46–11:59 a.m. — Storm-Related Structural Hazards (multiple): A tree leaning on a house with no structural damage was reported at the 34 block of Hillside Road; a tree on a deck was reported at the 600 block of Haverhill Street; a broken utility pole hanging from wires was found at Oakland Road and Waverly Road; a branch on power lines at the 40 block of Summer Avenue prompted a fire department response; a communications line was reported down off a home on Van Norden Road.
Saturday, May 30, 10:51 a.m. — Weapons Surrender: A resident brought a .22-caliber rifle to the station for disposal.
Saturday, May 30, 2:13 p.m. — Disturbance: Multiple calls were received reporting a loud boom sound near Main and South Streets.
Saturday, May 30, 6:09 p.m. — Suspicious Person: A man was found sleeping in an ATM vestibule on the 20 block of Walkers Brook Drive.
Saturday, May 30, 6:25 p.m. — Neighbor Disturbance: A neighbor's fence fell into a resident's yard on the 16 block of Lafayette Road.
Saturday, May 30, 9:21 p.m. — Disturbance / Possible Underage Drinking: Multiple calls reported a loud party with possible underage drinking at the 41 block of Richards Road.
Sunday, May 31, 1:15 a.m. — Arrest — Operating Under the Influence of Liquor (OUI): An arrest was made following a motor vehicle crash at West Street and Woburn Street. The log does not provide the arrestee's name, age, or town of residence. (See Review section.)
Sunday, May 31, 2:57 p.m. — Transformer Fire: A transformer explosion and pole fire were reported at the 70 block of Batchelder Road; fire department responded.
Sunday, May 31, 4:27 p.m. — Shoplifting: Loss prevention at Stop & Shop on Walkers Brook Drive reported a shoplifting incident.
Sunday, May 31, 4:34 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: An officer was flagged down for a two-car crash in the Market Basket parking lot on General Way; no injuries reported.
Sunday, May 31, 5:00 p.m. — Hazard: Broken glass in the roadway was reported at the 41 block of Richards Road, in connection with the prior Saturday night disturbance.
Sunday, May 31, 6:13 p.m. — Complaint Application Filed: Following a motor vehicle stop near Christopher's Restaurant on the 500 block of Main Street, a complaint application was filed.
Sunday, May 31, 6:20 p.m. — Commercial Alarm: A panic alarm was triggered at a business on the 300 block of Main Street.
Sunday, May 31, 7:12 p.m. — Neighbor Disturbance: An ongoing noise complaint regarding a neighbor's late-night music was reported at a residence on the 4B block of Elderberry Lane.
