Conservation · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Reading's Conservation Commission voted unanimously to order a stop-work and enforcement action at 10 Brentwood over unpermitted wetland-buffer clearing. Chair Brian Bowe and members Walter Talbot, Sophia Jones, Rick Keogh and Martha Moore voted 5-0 to require owner Sherry Souther to survey the property, delineate wetlands, submit a planting plan and fix an improperly installed silt fence within one week, returning to the commission's September 9 meeting. Wetland scientist Frank Leone of Leone Landscape Contractors Corporation told the board Metro West engineering firm is handling the survey and delineation.

Conservation Administrator Charles Tirone called the enforcement order "a fast track to completing the project" compared with a formal notice of intent. The commission also continued hearings on 281 Main Street and 1153 Main Street to August 12, welcomed new member Sophia Jones, and pushed its chair and vice chair election to August 26.
