The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Reading Police Department's official public log for the period March 23–29, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).


Monday, March 23, 5:53 a.m.Hazard: A low-hanging wire was reported by a motorist at the intersection of Willow Street and Summer Avenue.

Monday, March 23, 7:22 a.m.Road Closure: Bancroft Avenue at Middlesex/Mt. Vernon Avenue was closed with limited access and detours in place.

Monday, March 23, 8:00 a.m.Unwanted Guest: A homeless man was found sleeping in the lobby of a business on the 100 block of Haven Street.

Monday, March 23, 8:23 a.m.Motor Vehicle Crash: A minor two-vehicle crash with no injuries was investigated on the 400 block of South Street.

Monday, March 23, 2:34 p.m.Wire Down: A wire-down report was responded to on the 400 block of Lowell Street.

Monday, March 23, 3:39 p.m.Malicious Damage: Key scratches were found on a gray Range Rover in the parking area near the 300 block of Main Street.

Monday, March 23, 5:06 p.m.Animal Call: A report of possible animal abuse was received on the 900 block of Main Street.

Monday, March 23, 7:14 p.m.Motor Vehicle Complaint: Erratic vehicle operation was reported near Town Hall on the 10 block of Lowell Street.

Monday, March 23, 7:50 p.m.Suspicious Vehicle: A caller reported a suspicious male driving past their daughter near the intersection of Main Street and Franklin Street.


Tuesday, March 24, 8:22 a.m.Traffic Obstruction: A lumber delivery truck was impeding traffic on Franklin Street near Blueberry Lane.

Tuesday, March 24, 11:48 a.m.Weapons Surrender: Weapons and ammunition were found during a residence cleanout on the 500 block of Franklin Street and turned over for disposal.

Tuesday, March 24, 12:00 p.m.Disabled Motor Vehicle: A 2015 Infiniti QX80 with a wheel off was reported disabled on the 300 block of Main Street.

Tuesday, March 24, 1:18 p.m.Animal Call: A white and brown dog was found running loose on the 50 block of Berkeley Street.

Tuesday, March 24, 2:45 p.m.Larceny/Shoplifting: The manager of a sporting goods store on the 200 block of Salem Street reported multiple past shoplifting incidents.

Tuesday, March 24, 3:12 p.m.Fraud: A manager at a grocery store on Walkers Brook Drive reported a possible EBT fraud incident.

Tuesday, March 24, 4:41 p.m.Unwanted Guest: A store manager on Walkers Brook Drive requested a male be trespassed from the premises.

Tuesday, March 24, 5:27 p.m.Hazard: A resident on the 500 block of West Street reported a chunk missing from a utility pole.

Tuesday, March 24, 6:06 p.m.Burst Pipe: A homeowner on the 100 block of John Street reported a burst water pipe in the basement; fire department responded.

Tuesday, March 24, 8:00 p.m.Contractor Complaint: A resident on the 300 block of Pearl Street reported being possibly scammed by a garage door contractor.


Wednesday, March 25, 7:39 a.m.Carbon Monoxide Alarm: A CO detector alarm was activated on the 30 block of Red Gate Lane; no illness reported.

Wednesday, March 25, 9:15 a.m.By-Law Violation: Trash was found illegally dumped at the RMLD substation on the 40 block of Causeway Road.

Wednesday, March 25, 11:08 a.m.Carbon Monoxide Alarm: A CO detector was activated on the 30 block of Bainbridge Road; fire department responded.

Wednesday, March 25, 12:20 p.m.Found Property: A wallet was found and turned in to the station; located near Haven and Sanborn Streets.

Wednesday, March 25, 6:17 p.m.Motor Vehicle Crash (Not Investigated): A female came to the lobby seeking advice about a prior motor vehicle crash; incident occurred near Market Basket on General Way.

Wednesday, March 25, 7:50 p.m.Suspicious Vehicle: A suspicious male was reported driving slowly past a caller's daughter near the intersection of Main Street and Franklin Street.

Wednesday, March 25, 9:16 p.m.BOLO: An alert was received from Nashua for a stolen motor vehicle.


Thursday, March 26, 6:07 a.m.Gas Odor: Fire department responded to an odor of gas reported inside a business on the 1 block of General Way.

Thursday, March 26, 8:03 a.m.Road Closure: Bancroft Avenue at Middlesex Avenue was closed with emergency access only and detours in place.

Thursday, March 26, 8:12 a.m.Wire Down: A trash truck struck and brought down wires on the 40 block of Chapel Hill Drive.

Thursday, March 26, 8:49 a.m.Trespass Order: A building owner on the 500 block of Main Street came to the lobby to file a no-trespass order.

Thursday, March 26, 9:52 a.m.Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was investigated at the intersection of Main Street and Salem Street.

Thursday, March 26, 12:55 p.m.Fire Alarm/Odor: Fire department responded to a fire alarm activation with an odor reported inside on the 100 block of King Street.

Thursday, March 26, 1:52 p.m.Burning Odor: Fire department responded to a reported burning odor in a basement on the 70 block of Wakefield Street.

Thursday, March 26, 3:51 p.m.Suspicious Person: A homeowner on the 600 block of Main Street reported a suspicious male sitting on a nearby bench.

Thursday, March 26, 10:09 p.m.Trespass Order: A trespass order was filed at Stop & Shop on Walkers Brook Drive in connection with an earlier incident.

Thursday, March 26, 10:41 p.m.Fire Alarm: A caller reported a fire alarm sounding at a nearby residence on the 100 block of Salem Street.


Friday, March 27, 9:28 a.m.Found Property: A wallet was turned in to the station; found near Prospect and King Streets.

Friday, March 27, 10:30 a.m.Animal Call: An injured opossum was reported on the street on the 60 block of Glenmere Circle.

Friday, March 27, 1:33 p.m.Contractor Complaint: Construction vehicles were parked on the sidewalk on the 400 block of Summer Avenue.

Friday, March 27, 1:33 p.m.Property Damage: A male came to the lobby to report past damage to his property near Bagel World on the 300 block of Main Street.

Friday, March 27, 3:42 p.m.Larceny/Shoplifting: Loss prevention at Stop & Shop on Walkers Brook Drive reported a past shoplifting incident.

Friday, March 27, 4:39 p.m.Disturbance: A group of approximately 20 youths caused a disturbance in the parking lot and inside a business on Walkers Brook Drive.

Friday, March 27, 5:21 p.m.Complaint Application Filed: A complaint application was filed as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Lowell Street near Barrows Road.

Friday, March 27, 6:16 p.m.Complaint Application Filed: A complaint application was filed as a result of a motor vehicle stop at Birch Meadow Drive and Main Street.

Friday, March 27, 9:58 p.m.Suspicious Person: A person was reported banging on a door on the 50 block of Mill Street.


Saturday, March 28, 10:51 a.m.Hit and Run: A vehicle struck a parked car and fled the scene on the 50 block of Haven Street.

Saturday, March 28, 1:38 p.m.Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was investigated on the 100 block of Ash Street.

Saturday, March 28, 4:53 p.m.Motor Vehicle Complaint: An erratic driver crossing double yellow lines was reported near a gas station on the 1300 block of Main Street.

Saturday, March 28, 6:52 p.m.Larceny/Shoplifting: A shoplifter fled Stop & Shop on Walkers Brook Drive.

Saturday, March 28, 10:54 p.m.Disturbance: A group of youths was reported banging on doors and running away on the 100 block of Village Street.

Saturday, March 28, 11:21 p.m.Noise Complaint: A tip was received reporting a loud house party on Avalon Road.


Sunday, March 29, 5:46 a.m.Fire Alarm: A residential fire alarm was activated on the 30 block of George Street; no contact made.

Sunday, March 29, 1:47 a.m.Gas Odor: Fire department responded to an odor of gas inside a building on the 5 block of Archstone Circle.

Sunday, March 29, 8:45 a.m.Elder Abuse Report: A male came to the lobby to report possible elder abuse at a senior living facility on the 1100 block of Main Street; a 19A report was filed.

Sunday, March 29, 12:47 p.m.Motor Vehicle Crash: A motor vehicle backed into a light pole on the 40 block of Pondview Lane.

Sunday, March 29, 2:52 p.m.Carbon Monoxide Alarm: Fire department responded to a CO activation at a residential building on the 400 block of Main Street.

Sunday, March 29, 3:21 p.m.Found Property: A male came to the lobby to turn in a found ID; recovered on the 100 block of High Street.

Sunday, March 29, 4:33 p.m.Suspicious Person: A female was found curled up under a deck at a building on the 1400 block of Main Street.

Sunday, March 29, 5:32 p.m.Larceny/Shoplifting: Loss prevention at Stop & Shop on Walkers Brook Drive reported a shoplifting incident.

Sunday, March 29, 5:39 p.m.Complaint: A homeowner on the 30 block of Village Street reported a drone flying over their house.
