The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Reading Police Department's official public log for the period January 26–February 1, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).
Monday, January 26, 9:26 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Disabled: A Toyota Tacoma slid on the roadway at Willow Street near the railroad tracks.
Monday, January 26, 12:42 p.m. — Animal Call: A small wild animal was found abandoned near the 28 block of Osborne Avenue; Animal Control was notified.
Monday, January 26, 12:51 p.m. — By-law Violation: A resident on the 3 block of Line Road was reported snowblowing snow into the roadway.
Monday, January 26, 15:40 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A car went into a snowbank at Pearl and Salem Streets; no injuries reported.
Monday, January 26, 3:42 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint: A vehicle was reported doing donuts at Indian Tree Lane and Redgate Lane.
Monday, January 26, 8:18 p.m. — Suspicious Person: A possibly homeless male was reported inside a building on the 580 block of Main Street.
Tuesday, January 27, 8:31 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Hit and Run: A past hit-and-run was reported at the Haverhill Street rotary.
Tuesday, January 27, 10:13 a.m. — Possible Gunshots: A text to 911 reported possible gunshots heard near the 50 block of Walkers Brook Drive; fire alarm systems in the area were simultaneously offline for scheduled system work.
Tuesday, January 27, 9:03 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was reported at Salem and Main Streets.
Tuesday, January 27, 2:09 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: An officer witnessed a 2024 Ford Transit strike a barrier at the 55 block of Walkers Brook Drive.
Tuesday, January 27, 5:12 p.m. — Panic Alarm: A panic alarm activated at Northern Bank & Trust, 600 block of Main Street.
Tuesday, January 27, 5:53 p.m. — Fire/Odor: A fire box was transmitted for a building at the 139 block of Washington Street after alarms sounded and a burning odor was detected inside.
Tuesday, January 27, 6:58 p.m. — Traffic Control: Multiple callers reported train gates stuck in the down position at High and Woburn Streets.
Tuesday, January 27, 9:28 p.m. — Assist: Firefighters responded to the 30 block of Haven Street for a woman in a wheelchair stuck in snow.
Wednesday, January 28, 5:42 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was investigated at the 279 block of Salem Street.
Wednesday, January 28, 5:54 a.m. — Traffic Control: Train gates were reported stuck in the down position at High and Woburn Streets.
Wednesday, January 28, 11:43 a.m. — Property Damage: A resident on the 54 block of Pinevale Avenue reported damage to a white Toyota Camry caused by a plow.
Wednesday, January 28, 2:31 p.m. — Panic Alarm: A panic alarm activated at Reading Co-op Bank, 180 block of Haven Street.
Wednesday, January 28, 4:34 p.m. — Larceny: A resident on the 25 block of Green Street reported a delivered package was stolen.
Wednesday, January 28, 4:53 p.m. — Panic Alarm: A second panic alarm activated at Reading Co-op Bank, 180 block of Haven Street.
Wednesday, January 28, 6:35 p.m. — Gas Odor: Firefighters responded to the 7 block of Sherwood Road for a reported odor of gas inside a home.
Wednesday, January 28, 8:42 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint/OUI Concern: An employee at a restaurant on the 26 block of Walkers Brook Drive reported an intoxicated male attempting to drive.
Wednesday, January 28, 8:05 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint: Erratic motor vehicle operation was reported at Ash Hill Road and Walnut Street.
Thursday, January 29, 7:47 a.m. — Traffic Control: Train gates were stuck in the down position at New Crossing Road and the railroad tracks.
Thursday, January 29, 8:09 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was reported at West and Howard Streets.
Thursday, January 29, 8:31 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A three-car crash with no injuries was investigated at Willow and Lowell Streets.
Thursday, January 29, 9:08 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A two-car crash with no injuries was investigated at Main and Woburn Streets.
Thursday, January 29, 11:46 a.m. — Gas Odor: A fire box was transmitted for a building at the 239 block of Main Street after a report of a gas odor on the top two floors.
Thursday, January 29, 2:12 p.m. — Identity Theft: A male reported to the 19 block of Stewart Road that an unauthorized account had been opened in his name.
Sunday, February 1 — Saturday, January 31, 8:26 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Stop: A motor vehicle stop at Salem and Libby Avenue resulted in a complaint application being filed for suspended registration and suspended license.
Friday, January 30, 10:54 a.m. — Carbon Monoxide Detector Activation: Firefighters responded to the 9 block of Gardner Road for a CO detector activation.
Friday, January 30, 11:25 a.m. — Hazard: Low-hanging wires caused by an icicle were reported at Haven and Main Streets.
Friday, January 30, 12:00 p.m. — Town Vehicle Crash: The Department of Public Works reported a plow may have struck a vehicle at West and Selfridge Roads.
Friday, January 30, 12:17 p.m. — Hazard: An officer was flagged down about a toilet in the roadway at Salem and Harnden Streets.
Friday, January 30, 5:44 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Hit and Run: A female was grazed by a moving vehicle at Ash and Green Streets.
Friday, January 30, 4:54 p.m. — Larceny/Fraud: A female reported being scammed at the 23 block of Village Street.
Friday, January 30, 7:46 p.m. — Larceny/Fraud: A business owner on the 274 block of Main Street reported a fraud resulting in a $100,000 loss.
Friday, January 30, 7:38 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Complaint: A black pickup truck was reported driving onto a caller's lawn at the 15 block of South Street.
Saturday, January 31, 7:36 a.m. — Road Closure: The Water Department blocked Willow Street at Summer Avenue.
Saturday, January 31, 8:26 p.m. — Disturbance: Five youths were reported yelling in the lobby of a building on the 35 block of Lincoln Street.
Saturday, January 31, 8:27 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Stop/Complaint Application: A motor vehicle stop of a red Buick LeSabre at Salem and Libby Avenue resulted in a complaint application being filed for suspended registration and suspended license.
Sunday, February 1, 8:24 a.m. — Property Damage: A caller on the 71 block of Green Street reported a neighbor damaged their fence.
Sunday, February 1, 12:27 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A parked motor vehicle was struck in the parking lot at the 45 block of Temple Street; no injuries reported.
Sunday, February 1, 1:40 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Crash: A motor vehicle struck a guard rail in the parking lot at the 62 block of Oakland Road; no injuries reported.
Sunday, February 1, 3:00 p.m. — Hazard: A possible water main break was reported with water coming up from the street at the 55 block of Red Gate Lane.
